Turning exam prep into a habit students keep

petso is a virtual pet that grows every time you study. We're building the motivation layer for the world's high-stakes exams — the ones with no real learning materials or apps.

High-stakes exams are underserved everywhere

Around the world, millions of students prepare for entrance, language, and certification exams with photocopied guides, PDF dumps, and disconnected apps — nothing mobile-first, nothing in their own language, and nothing that keeps them coming back. Search for prep for most of these exams and no first-party product answers cost, value, and data privacy in one scroll. There's no "Duolingo for exam prep" — the motivation gap is wide open, and each of these markets stays paid-acquisition-only until someone builds the organic front door.

What we're building

Study feeds your pet

Every practice question you answer keeps your pet fed and growing. Skip a day and it goes hungry — the streak has a face, and students come back for it.

Real learning science

An FSRS spaced-repetition engine schedules exactly what to review and when, so knowledge compounds day after day instead of cramming the night before.

Native and local-first

petso ships as native iOS and Android apps, in each exam's own language. Freemium: free to start, with a Plus tier for deeper practice and AI-assisted study tools.

One playbook, many exams

The platform is exam-agnostic by design: adding an exam is new content, not a new app. We enter through Mexico's EXANI-II in 2026 — a high-volume entrance exam with no first-party organic answer — then EPSO, the European Union's staff-selection competitions, where tens of thousands of candidates a year prepare with books and courses but no real app. The same playbook then opens to underserved entrance, civil-service, and licensure exams worldwide.

Where we are

  1. Design system built — one token source drives iOS, Android, and web
  2. Question pipeline live — exam-agnostic, with the first 500+ question launch corpus in authoring
  3. Marketing site shipped in English and Spanish
  4. Native iOS and Android apps in development
  5. Next: Mexico launch in 2026, then EPSO and more underserved exams

Team

petso is designed, engineered, and shipped end-to-end by a solo founder-engineer — across the native apps, the backend, and the content pipeline. Full bio and photo coming soon.
